Engagement With The Government

NACDOR has been on the forefront in engaging with the Government on Reservation in Private Sector. A delegation of NACDOR met the Hon’ble Prime Minister in 2006, 2008, 2009 and 2010 and presented its demand for reservation for the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in the Private Sector. NACDOR also engaged with the Members of Planning Commission of India and relevant Minister in the Union Government in India.

NACDOR engaged with the Members of Parliament of different political parties, leaders of different political parties to bring the relevant legislation in the Parliament.

It is heartening to note that recently, Government of India has made it mandatory for all central bodies to make at least 4% of their annual purchases from Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises owned by the Scheduled Castes or Scheduled Tribes. This decision forms the part of the new public procurement policy mandating ministries to make 20% of their purchases from micro, small and medium enterprises. 20% of this will be sourced from companies owned by Scheduled Castes or Scheduled Tribes. NACDOR delegation met the Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and presented a set of demands to strengthen this initiative of the Government.
