NACDOR’s work has been recognised from its inception. In 2003, the National Coordinator of NACDOR was invited as official guest to the World Social Forum in Porto Alegre in Brazil.

NACDOR's Global Impact and Recognition

In 2003, NACDOR leader was elected one of the five conveners of the World Social Forum organising committee in India. In March 2004, the World Social Movement Network recognised NACDOR’s call to observe 5th December as the World Dignity Day.

In 2005, NACDOR and its brainchild World Dignity Forum were invited by the International Organising Committee of the World Social Forum to inaugurate the World Social Forum 2005 in Porto Alegre.

Since 2006, NACDOR has been meeting the Prime Minister regularly and has been apprising the Government on the demands and the aspiration of the Dalits. In 2008, the Secretary General of the United Nations invited the Chairperson of the NACDOR to address the High Level Event in UN General Assembly 2008. In the same year, Club de Madrid, an organisations of the formerly Heads of the States, invited NACDOR Chairperson to attend the first ever World Conference on Shared Society in Rotterdam in Holland. NACDOR has been involved with Global Call to Action against Poverty (GCAP) since its inception and has constantly persuaded the GCAP to look at the poverty with the lens of Social Exclusion. In 2008, GCAP formally agreed to constitute a Global Task Force on Social Exclusion and NACDOR Chairman was nominated as the founder Convener of the Social Exclusion Task Force. In September 2010, he was formally elected as the Convener of the SETF and a Member of the GCAP Global Council. NACDOR has constantly engaged with International Institutions such as International Confederation of Trade Unions and UN Global Compact.

NACDOR's Leadership and Collaborative Efforts in Social Change

NACDOR has received recognition from Planning Commission, when its Chairman was made member of the two Steering Committees of the Planning Commission one on Social Justice and Empowerment and the second on Civil Society Engagement. National Commission for Scheduled Castes has also appointed him as the Member of a Committee on Reservation in Judiciary. NACDOR Chairman is the Convener of Wada Na Todo Abhiyan, a Civil Society Network on Governance and Accountability.

NACDOR Chairman Mr. Ashok Bharti received Ashoka Fellowship in 2005 for his innovative idea on electricity cooperative in urban slums in Delhi. NACDOR is working on this idea with Tata Power Distribution Company Limited in Delhi.

NACDOR continue to receive distinguished guests. Mr. Gordon Brown, formerly Prime Minister of United Kingdom visited our project in 2010. This year in March, US Ambassador, Mr. Timothy Roemer spent half a day on the occasion of observance of birth anniversary of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. on 15th March 2011.

In March 2011, NACDOR Chairman was nominated for the coveted Care Millennium Award, which was conferred on him in Berlin in November 2011. In August 2011, it received a delegation headed by Mr. Heribert Scharrenbroich, formerly Permanent Secretary of Germany and the Chairman of the CARE Deutschland-Luxemburg and Social Advisor of GDR Embassy in New Delhi.
